“Electricity, is one of the basic needs of MAN in modern day. It is no gainsaying that after a house has been well structured and fashioned to dwell in, electricity is one of the important needs to be put in place given its quintessential relevance especially in our society.
“However since its discovery, electricity has become an essential feature for economic development. This stems from the fact that it affects every sphere of a nation’s economy, thus the push by both developed and developing nations to establish efficient electricity sector became something of national important.
“However, it is noteworthy that it is conceded that electricity is a prerequisite to optimal utility of man and society at large, right to electricity does not savor the same with civil and political right, perhaps because there are lesser suit on the subject matter, the masses don’t know their right to electricity in the country and IBEDC workers are leveraging on this to be extorting masses and denying them of stable electricity with a whooping charges on monthly basis.
“It’s worth mentioning that the resentful and unideal of their operations born out of illegal and unethical issuance of bills to the customers without acknowledging meter before charging their customers. This is outrageous and it’s against the ethics of their job and even contrary to the Nigeria constitution.
“Nevertheless, it is desirable for the state social order to be founded on ideals of freedom, equality and Justice over the extortion of customers from the IBEDC company.
“Broadly speaking, we are sending this message to the concerned authorities in the sector (electricity) to as a matter of urgency give out accurate and adequate guidelines to their workers to desist from any act of extorting customers and of course to put in place reasonable and customer’s friendly measures so as to avoid complications and chaos that this illegal might lead to in no time.
“Conclusively, however, it’s our admonition and advise to the IBEDC workers and authorities to mend their mode of operations and of course to be considered their customers as if they persist with their awful type of service, we will have our rights protected through judicial activism.
“Our demands from IBEDC That the IBEDC provide sufficient prepaid meeters for the in a way to avoided extortion from some of there staffs
“That IBEDC should tender public apology to there customer in Osun state for the inconveniences situation they have been making them going through for the past two months
“That IBEDC should stop his staff from giving crazy bill to the customer wish they fail to supply with prepaid meeters.
“Failure to do this will lead to mass confrontation between the CYVM Osun state.“
