….. Solicit reward for loyal party members
Hon. Ayodeji Olaolu Ikotun, is a former State House of Assembly candidate of Atakumosa East/West on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and chairman of Eagle way Nigeria Limited, also PDP chairmanship aspirant, Atakumosa East local Government. In an interview with Mubarak Akorede in Osogbo , speaks on the state of the party at state level, dwelling more on his political sojourn and solicit benefit for all the loyal party mens.
Q: What did you have to say about your political sojourn?
The truth of the matter is that no one climb tree from the top or branches, everyone start climbing from the roots. I start partisian politics as labour party member in 2005 (18years) ago. With the sole purpose of building the political profile, grassroot networking and political relevance. At the same time, creating a platform that will change and give voice to the voiceless in my immediate environment.
Q: What prompt you to leave the party you build in your locality, to join PDP?
Life is dynamics, at every point in times one needs to leave the comfort zones to explore and view the otherside of the life, my being to PDP was facilitated by Baba Fadahunsi in 2014, after series of closing meeting in his residence in Lagos, I officially joined the party (PDP) during the rally at owa obookun palace in Ilesha, with the then labour party leader Mr. Afilaka. Since then I have remain committed to the course of PDP at every strata.
Q: How is relationship with Senator Fadahunsi, and party leaders in Atakunmosa East?
The relationship is cordially and fatherly one, Senator Fadahunsi and Hon. Sanya Omirin were my leader and mentor since days of join the party. Also mutual relationship exist with our party leaders in Atakunmosa East local government.
Q: You were the party Flagbearer in 2019 for Atakunmosa East and West State House of Assembly, what did can you point as hindrance for being victorious at the poll, and while not surface again to recontest in 2023 for the same position?
Yes, at times God plan supercedes human plan, moments is essential in human destiny, I suffered the same treatment with our leader His excellency Adeleke, I mean the inconclusive saga that subvert masses willing votes for our their party then, we tried our best but God plan supercedes. In a democratic clime, equity is essential, Atakunmosa East and West are sister local government that share a state constituency, coming from the same local government with Member of House representative elect Hon Sanya Omirin make me cede to the decision of the party to zone the post to Atakunmosa West and glory be to God Hon. Sanni Areoye emerge and he can affirm our support.
Q: With the ways things are now in your party, do you see any hope of getting over the factional challenge soon?
Yes, there is hope. The only issue is that that hope cannot be based on marauders. They have shown a high level of incompetence and inability to be trusted. And that hope is the leader who sacrifice and lead the struggle to victory.
Q: Your party congress is coming up in days, would the exercise further deepen the factional crisis, and who is your choice candidate for chairmanship post?
The exercise is democratic contest and its organized within the democratic tenets, it wont in anyway deepen factional crisis rather unite and coerce the party structure together for a sole aim. My choice of candidate among those in the race is Hon. Sunday Bisi.
Q: While Hon. Sunday Bisi?
It is simple, He as been tested, trusted and has proven beyond doubt that he is capable to lead the structure and unifying all the party apparatus to achieve the essence of being a political party.
Q: Recently Court of Appeal nullify the tribunal judgement and affirm your party gubernatorial candidate in the last governorship election as duly elected governor of the state, what is your view about the outcome?
The outcome of the appeal court is a pointer that the will of masses is sacrosanct and that judiciary remain sacred place that instill the hope of the masses
Q: What is message?
The reward for victory is more work, our members should continue to mobilize into the party at all strata, and I want beseech our leaders at the round table to give more regards to the party faithful who have been with party during the darks era and work judiciously to record this victory. To our people in Atakunmosa East rejoice the new dawn is at the door steps, support a man is resourceful, vibrant and connected to bring the yearning development of years to the crones and nock of the local government.
