PhotoNews: CBCIU Commissions Ulli Beier Archive, Duro Ladipupo Museum In Osun

To boost the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Germany, the Center for Black Culture and International Understanding, CBCIU, Osogbo, on Monday, commissioned the Ulli Beier Archive and Duro Ladipupo Museum.

 

In his welcome address at the commissioning, the Board of Trustees Chairman, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola described the commissioning as another groundbreaking record for the center, which has been at the forefront front of promotion of African culture.

 

Oyinlola said the Ulli Beier Archive would not only boost the bilateral relationship between the two countries but would promote the African culture.

 

 

The former governor of Osun State assured everyone that the center will not only cherish the archival materials brought from Germany, but also protect them for generations unborn.

 

The commissioning was attended by the German Consular General in Nigeria, His Excellency Dr. Stefan Traumann, his wife, Her Excellency, Mrs Daniella Traumann and families of Ulli Beier and Duro Ladipupo.

 

In his presentation, the Director of Iwalewahaus, a German research institute founded by Ulli Beier, Dr Ulf Vierke expressed satisfaction to partner with CBCIU on promotion of cultures and memories of Ulli Beier.

Earlier, the Executive Director of CBCIU, Prof Siyan Oyeweso emphasised that the center would be more committed in order to be foremost center for learning, research and advocacy on African cultures.

He said the memories of Ulli Beier will remain evergreen in the history of Yoruba land. 

Oyeweso appreciated the partnership with Ulli Beier and Duro Ladipupo whom he said had robust relationship during their lifetimes.

Highlights of the event include unveiling of the archive, museum and launch of the book to mark 10th anniversary of the center.

Among dignitaries at the event were Chief Yemi Elebuibon, Delegates from Iwalewahaus, Prof Michael Omolewa, Prince Kazeem Adio and other stakeholders in cultural World.
