‘Why 25 Osun Lawmakers Left PDP’

Twenty-five members of the Osun State House of Assembly have left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the Accord party.

The Speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Olamide Tiamiyu, confirmed this in a statement. He said the decision was taken during a parliamentary meeting.

According to the statement, the lawmakers had already resigned from the PDP weeks ago after deep thinking and wide consultations with their supporters, political allies and other important stakeholders. After these discussions, they decided to move to Accord.

The lawmakers said they believe Accord is a more stable, inclusive and people-focused party. They explained that they want to belong to a political party that reflects their values and allows them to serve the people of Osun State better.

They added that their decision was made in the interest of the people and to ensure continued development across the state.

After the parliamentary session, the lawmakers went to the Banquet Hall where they met with the state governor, Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, and other top Accord leaders. At the meeting, the Speaker formally announced their defection.

The lawmakers pledged their full support to Governor Adeleke. They also promised to continue providing quality representation, transparency and responsive leadership to the people of Osun State.

They urged their supporters and well-wishers to remain loyal and join them in this new political journey.

According to them, joining the governor’s party will help ensure continuity in governance and speed up development in the state.
