
The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Southwest zone, has expressed its readiness and preparations to contest the governorship elections in Osun and Ekiti States.
This was contained in a statement issued by the National Vice Chairman of the party in the zone, Honourable Rahman Owokoniran during the zonal executive meeting which was held in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the governorship election in Ekiti and Osun States for June 20 and August 8, 2026 respectively.
Honourable Owokoniran, in his address, reiterated the party’s commitment to aggressive membership registration, mobilisation and expansion of support base in the region. Owokoniran, while assuring all stakeholders of equal treatment, said everyone will be carried along and no prefential treatment will be allowed.
The zonal executives vowed to deploy all arsenals towards the success of the party in the two states laying emphasis on aggressive campaign, polling unit monitoring, solid security arrangements before, during and after the elections.
Party chairmen across the zone also gave the report on progress recorded in the area of membership mobilisation, registration and revalidation, pointing out the issue of party’s membership cards availability.
In their separate remarks, Alhaji Yinka Olona, Dr Charles Omidiji, Honourable Rotimi George Taylor and Dr Babatunde Oke, Oyo State chairman, Osun State chairman, deputy national financial secretary and the national director of communication and programmes of the party respectively admonished members to be up and running, work together as a team for the success of the party and ensure that ADC secure large number of votes to justify its leadership among the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.
