A violent communal clash between the Ifon and Ilobu communities in Osun State has left traders counting losses in the millions of naira, with goods scattered across roads and shops reduced to ashes.

The conflict, reportedly sparked by a long-standing land dispute, escalated in the early hours of Friday, displacing scores of residents and plunging the area into chaos.

In a viral video obtained by Amiloaded, the devastation was laid bare: traders’ goods littered the streets, while plumes of smoke rose from shops burnt to the ground.

The footage captured the aftermath of the violence that has gripped the Orolu and Irepodun local government areas, where at least 30 people have been reportedly injured.

In another harrowing video, residents of Ilobu were seen fleeing the town, clutching bags and shielding their children over the escalating tension. .

The clash, which reignited tensions between the two communities, has drawn widespread concern.

Reports indicate that houses and cars were also set ablaze, forcing many to abandon their homes in fear for their lives.

While some claim that as many as 30 people may have been killed, these figures remain unverified, and official casualty numbers are yet to be confirmed by authorities.

The Osun State Government, under Governor Ademola Adeleke, has responded swiftly to the crisis.

In a statement released in the early hours of today , the government announced the imposition of a new curfew on both Ifon and Ilobu communities to restore order and prevent further violence.

Local sources, including a post from InsideOsogbo earlier today, had sounded the alarm as the conflict erupted, urging people to avoid the affected areas.

The Ifon-Ilobu dispute is not new, but the ferocity of this latest outbreak has raised questions about the effectiveness of past interventions.
