The lawmaker said: “One of the sectors leaders must not toy with is the education sector. It is because we are educated that is we can stand before you. Unfortunately, the current federal government under the leadership of President is not doing enough, most especially the ongoing ASUU strike.

“I want to use this medium to call on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government to immediately resolve the lingering strike by ASUU. It’s affecting the students psychologically. Keeping them at home is dangerous.

“I call on President Buhari to find lasting solution to it immediately.”

Speaking at the event, the Alawo of Awo land, Oba Taiwo Adegboye, said the lawmaker “is simply the best among the equals”.

“I have been keenly studying and watching Hon Salam, whenever he speaks in their sittings, you will always see the passion in him. He is simply the best,” the monarch said, urging the students to make use of the money judiciously.

On the ongoing ASUU strike, Adegboye said, “When we the traditional rulers will be having our meeting this week, I am going to remind the Ooni of Ife to help us tell Mr President to work on how to resolve the problems once and fall.

In his remarks, the Osun West PDP senatorial candidate, Dr. Lere Oyewunmi said, “If you look round in the state today, how many of the APC representatives are doing what our own BS is doing? This is what our party stands for. We are only concern in putting forward our best.”

Also speaking, the Osun State Deputy Governor-elect, Prince Kola Adewusi, assured students that under the incoming government of Sen. Ademola Adeleke will pay bursary from time to time.

“Let me assure you that under our government, we are going to be paying bursary from time to time. We have done it before, we shall do it again,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Abdufatai Abass, a student of University of Ilorin who hails from Ejigbo, appreciated the gesture extended to them by the lawmaker, saying, “What the lawmaker is doing is unprecedented. If we have other lawmakers doing this kind of empowerment, our society would have been more better than this. I want to plead our leaders to emulate this kind of program.” He said

“If other legislators can emulate transformational leadership by Hon. BS, we will not be where we are today as a nation. Representation must be effective. For it to be effective, it must show innovation, creativity and productivity. This is what Hon. Salam has demonstrated by ensuring that no one is left behind in his quality representation. We are blessed to have him change the face of representation in our dear Ede Federal Constituency.”
