Police Officer Arrested Over Naira Abuse In Viral Video

The Police Force has detained one of its officers following the emergence of a viral video showing him
M in the company of Wahab and Raheem Okoya, sons of billionaire businessman, Razaq Okoya.

The officer was seen holding bundles of naira notes while the Okoya brothers appeared to engage in activities deemed disrespectful to the national currency.

The officer’s arrest was disclosed in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Friday, January 10.

He revealed that disciplinary actions are already underway to address the officer’s misconduct.

Adejobi wrote: “The policeman captured in the recent viral video shared by the sons of the lagos businessman, Chief Okoya, where they were abusing the naira, has been identified and detained for disciplinary action.

“The involvement of the policeman has been condemned, as it’s unethical. We will always strive hard to uphold the sanctity, credibility, and core values of the police.”

In the now viral video, the brothers are shown tossing the money into the air, while the police officer, a mobile policeman, is seen holding the bundles.

  1. Is it the police officer or those who did the act that should be arrested and sanctioned? Or, is double standard playing out here?
