The United States Consul General, William Stevens, on Wednesday visited ‘Gallery Abeke Vocational & African Heritage Art Gallery’ in Osogbo, Osun State Capital. AMILOADED reports
The Consular, William Stevens was accompanied by team from American embassy Lagos during the visit to the popular art gallery, which was situated at NO1- 6 Heritage Crescent Off Oba Oyinlola Way Gbongan Road, Osogbo.
Speaking with AMILOADED correspondent, the Owner of the gallery, Chief Jimoh Buriamo said he has been partnering with United States of America over years, while the duo have established mutual contact in the art industry.
He described the US Consul General visit as way to appreciate him for what he has done in the field of art, and to inspect work produced by him and his trainees.
“The visit by US Consula and his team is to appreciate what I have done as an artist by training some people, the embassy give me grant about three years ago to train 25 children, while I trained about 50 this year”. He said
Chief Jimoh described himself as an alumni of US who have attended series of programme abroad and a coordinator of the artist village in Osogbo.
He added that osogbo has been accepted as UNESCO site since 2005 and become world heritage where people always love to come for tourism and the likes.
“Osogbo has become center for art in Nigeria and that is while they love to come there once in a blue moon” He concluded.
