Osun-Based Journalist Recounts Spending N300 Daily On Food In 2010

An Osun-based journalist, Francis Ezediuno, has taken a nostalgic trip down memory lane, recounting how he survived on just N100 per meal during his early days in Osogbo in 2010.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, Ezediuno, who currently serves as a correspondent for Daily Post, detailed his modest lifestyle as a young journalist starting out in the state capital.

According to his post, Ezediuno arrived in Osogbo in September 2010 and adopted a strict feeding routine that cost him no more than N300 daily. “N100 in the morning for yam and beans, N100 in the afternoon for fufu and meat at Iya Ede buka at Olaiya junction, and N100 at night for noodles, preferably indomie,” he wrote.

At the time, the young journalist said he was free of responsibilities, which allowed him to focus on his personal growth and career without major financial pressure.

He fondly recalled Iya Ede buka, a popular local eatery at the Olaiya junction, where he often ate lunch before the place was eventually demolished.

The post reads, “I remember when I first came to Osogbo in September 2010. I used to spend N300 daily for feeding.
N100 in the morning for yam and beans.
N100 in the afternoon for fufu and meat at Iya Ede buka at Olaiya junction before it was demolished and then N100 in the night for noodles preferably indomie.
Back then, no responsibilities on my small head.

“It was in Osogbo, I learnt how to eat noodles raw without cooking.
It so happened that one night, there was no electricity so I couldn’t use electrical stove and kerosine stove I didn’t have back then. So I just ate the thing like that and drank water and slept off.

“Then I switched to this biscuit called SHAPES. SHAPES and pure water every night became my supper. It was my favourite back then.

“I’m sure Abimbola Badmus will remember back then at Oris Farms, Malam Tope area!”
