Osun APC Fumes As Labour Unions Endorse Adeleke’s Re-election

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned Adeleke-led administration of squandering the resources of the state to fund endorsement of his second term bid by NLC, NULGE and TUC.

This was was contained in a statement issued by the Osun State APC Director of Media and Information,KOLA OLABISI, on Thursday.

The statement reads, “Arrangements have been in top gear by both the organized and the disorganized labour organisations in the state to forcefully adopt the embattled Governor Adeleke for the second term during the May Day anniversary slated for the Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Osogbo, Osun State.

“To this effect, it has been scooped that the state government has made available the sum of N172 million for the factional leadership of the NULGE, the NLC and the TUC with the sharing formula of N97 million for the factionalized NULGE while both the NLC and the TUC are smiling to the bank with a sum of N75 million meaning that the Governor Adeleke-led government coughed out N172 million as an inducement for the labour unions to adopt him for second term on the May Day.

“Information has it that the purpose of the cash inducement by the state government for the labour unions is to encourage the leaders of the unions to adopt the candidature of Governor Adeleke for second term during the May Day celebration.

“In order to make the forceful second term adoption exercise rosy, the state government has bought Ankara uniforms for all the government workers in the state with a directive to them to flood the venue of the event on the May Day in order to give a false popularity and acceptability to the embattled Governor Adeleke whose popularity is waning on daily basis for acts of mis-governance.

“It was apparent that the N172 million inducement given to the labour leaderships in the state by the state government under the guise of the celebration of this year’s May Day was meant to bribe them in order to perpetuate their unholy support to the government by continuously keeping the NULGE members at home who have been staying away from work for about three months running.

“With this development, it is crystal clear that the pliable and compromised labour leaders have been holding the entire workforce at the local government level across the state at the jugular, forcing them to stay away from work in order to frustrate the resumption of the Court of Appeal reinstated local government chairmen and councillors by the way of the 10th of February, 2025 landmark judgement.

“For how long would the compromised leaderships of the labour unions in the state be in the saddle for their personal and political interest while some of the NULGE members are becoming pauperized, hungry and dying at homes while the masses are needlessly suffering from having no access to health care at the grassroots among other deprivations to them as a result of the politics of the leadership of the union?

“There is no need for further worry as to the fact that it is the Governor Adeleke-led government that is the exponent of the continuous shunning of work by the local government council workers which in a way is willful undermining the rule of law as the reinstated local government council chairmen and councillors are not administering the councils through their whims and caprices but through the instrumentality of the force of the law of the land.

“It is absurd and ridiculous that the absence of governance at the grassroots level of government in Osun State has been surfering untold hardships for about three weeks running without the governor caring a hoot about the bizarre development which is first of its kind in any state in this country.

“There can not be said to be the presence of government at any level in the state when the local government inhabitants are visibly deprived and needlessly shortchanged because of lack of what it takes to provide a quality governance in the state by the character at the helm of affairs.

“It is appalling and worrisome that the governor who is verifiably bereft of priorities in government has chosen to be digging the gutter when his house is metaphorically on fire as there can be no convinced reason for him to have rolled out the drums to celebrate the shunning of work by the factionalized NULGE leadership in all the local government council areas for three months running.

“To state that Governor Adeleke is running a failed state is not an hyperbolic expression as long as he is encouraging the boycott of work by the factionalized NULGE members against his own government which is an anathema in the known act of governance worldwide.

“Has anyone ever thought of the reason why the embattled Governor Adeleke is always in his best form when it comes to dancing, wining and dining but automatically becomes hyper inactive when there is need for him to showcase intellectual prowess to the consternation of the discerning members of the public?

“What are being witnessed during the inglorious administration of Governor Adeleke are roles reversal out of which it is the convention for the musicians to sing and beat the drums for the guests at occasions. But surprisingly, our governor not only takes to the dancing floor when two metallic objects are struck against each other; he is always on hand to sing and entertain at events.

“We have seen the best of Governor Adeleke and it is disastrous for the developmental requirements of the state which parades so many accomplished individuals in all the sectors of the socio-political and economic spheres.

“Governor Adeleke, for the past two years he has been in the saddle, has proved to be a ceremonial governor who is not desirable for the political leadership of this state. We shall be happy to miss him in 2026 in the overall interest of the development of the State of the Virtuous.”
