OSHIA Trains Healthcare Providers on Emergency Care in Osun

The Osun Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA) has trained accredited healthcare providers in the state on emergency care.

The training kicked off on Tuesday at the Staff Development Centre in Osogbo, the capital of Osun, with nurses, doctors, and other stakeholders in attendance.

Speaking with newsmen, the Executive Secretary of OSHIA, Dr. Rasaq Akindele, said the two-day program serves as an avenue for continuous medical education to address several reports of treatment mismanagement by healthcare providers.

He noted that the training has been fully packaged to reflect on what healthcare providers may have forgotten and what to do during emergency situations.

Dr. Akindele assured enrollees that there will be improved healthcare delivery in the state after the training and engagement with providers.

In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Osun State Drug Management Agency, Dr. Saheed Olanrewaju, said the training will further open the eyes of healthcare providers to modern-day treatment techniques in the health sector.

He urged Osun residents to take their health issues seriously by visiting accredited hospitals for treatment.

Also speaking, Consultant Cardiologist Dr. Adebiyi Lukman Obasanjo urged all agencies and establishments to emulate OSHIA by sensitizing people in churches and mosques on basic life-support skills.

Dr. Obasanjo affirmed that OSHIA has contributed positively to healthcare delivery in Osun and that the training will enhance their activities, especially in rural areas.

He emphasized the need for everyone, regardless of their profession, to have basic life-support knowledge to be able to address issues such as cardiac arrest and other emergencies.
