OSBC Clears Air On Alleged Ties To CBEX Ponzi Scheme

The Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) has disciplined a presenter who aired unauthorized content promoting the now-defunct CBEX Trading Exchange Global scheme.

In a statement released on Wednesday, OSBC clarified that the segment was broadcast without the editorial board’s approval or awareness, labeling the material as both unauthorized and misleading.

The Public Relations Officer of OSBC, Gbenga Faminu, confirmed that the questionable segment was aired on Orisun FM, a station under the OSBC umbrella based in Ile-Ife.

“As a responsible media organisation, OSBC identified the five-minute controversial content smuggled into our programming and has since sanctioned the presenter responsible,” Faminu said

He added that the corporation immediately commenced an internal review and determined that the broadcast was the personal initiative of the sanctioned presenter.

The statement emphasized that OSBC upholds strict regulatory compliance and high ethical standards in all its operations.

The station reaffirmed its dedication to serving as a reliable and trustworthy source of information, education, and public enlightenment in the South-West region.

Faminu further assured the audience that additional safeguards have been implemented to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.

OSBC also advised the public to remain vigilant and wary of fraudulent investment schemes that exploit economic hardship in the country.

“This situation is a reminder that fraudsters are constantly evolving in their tactics, and media organisations must remain vigilant to safeguard public trust,” the statement added.

CBEX Trading Exchange Global had previously gained popularity through unverified promotional content before collapsing and leaving many investors defrauded across multiple states.

OSBC made it clear that it had no commercial or promotional ties with CBEX and strongly distanced itself from the fraudulent venture.

“We want to categorically state that OSBC neither endorsed nor gained from the activities of the scheme,” Faminu emphasized.

The corporation reiterated its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and public service in all its broadcasting activities.
