Osun People Want a Friend as Executive Governor, Not a Visitor who are currently occupying Abere:– Omooba Oyedotun Babayemi Fits the Bill

By Engr. Alamu Akeem Adelani (IJALAT)

In a state like Osun, where tradition, religion, and healthcare are deeply interwoven into governance, the people yearn for a leader who is not just a passerby in power but a true friend and servant of the masses. Omooba Oyedotun Babayemi, fondly called “Alafia-Dotun” (The Renewed Health Bringer), stands out as that leader—a man whose historical records in health, religion, and royal relationships make him the best choice for Osun’s governorship in 2026.

A Health Champion: The Legacy of “Alafia-Dotun”

One of the most critical sectors demanding urgent attention in Osun is healthcare, and Babayemi has already laid an impressive track record. His interventions in eye surgeries (cataract), appendectomies, goiter operations, and other critical health needs have earned him the title “Alafia-Dotun.”

The name, derived from “Alafia” (good health) and “Dotun” (renewed), perfectly aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for Nigeria’s health sector.

Babayemi doesn’t just talk about healthcare; he lives it. His energy and passion are unmatched—”he can jump from morning till night and still be the first to wake everyone up the next day.” Such vitality is what Osun needs to revitalize its health sector.

A Unifier in Religion: Loved by Christians and Muslims Alike
Despite being a Christian, Babayemi’s generosity has endeared him to the Muslim community in Osun. A shining example was during the Fidau prayer for the late Pa Oyebanji, where he stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Muslim faithful, supporting them in their time of need. His consistent sponsorship of Muslims to the Holy Land (Hajj and Umrah) further cements his respect for their faith.

In a state where religious harmony is crucial, Babayemi’s ability to bridge divides without bias makes him the most acceptable candidate across all faiths.

A Prince of Peace: The Royal Fathers’ Beloved Son

As the “Prince of Peace,” Babayemi’s relationship with traditional rulers is unparalleled. He is not just a friend to kings in Osun but across Yorubaland. His deep respect for tradition, coupled with his humility, has made him the Omooba of Our Time.” No king denies him—he is truly their beloved son.

Conclusion: Osun Needs a Governor Who Is Already a Friend

Osun does not need a visitor in government house as they are currently in Abere but a friend who understands its people’s pains, faith, and traditions. Omooba Oyedotun Babayemi is that friend—a health reformer, a religious unifier, and a royal confidant.

Osun wants a governor who has always been there for them, not one who will start learning on the job. Babayemi is that leader.
