The Oladapo Opasina Foundation (OOF) was well represented at the just concluded 2024 Ogiyan Festival in Ejigbo, Osun State. Ogiyan festival (also known as Odun Ogiyan) is one of the most prominent and oldest cultural Festivals in southwest Nigeria.
The OOF Founder, Dr. Oladapo Kayode Opasina, represented by the foundation’s program coordinator; Mr. Matthew Ajayi, and other team members, noted that the Ogiyan festival symbolizes the cultural identity of the people of Ejigbo, and it brings all sons and daughters of the ancient town together, irrespective of their religious divides.
Dr. Opasina praised Alayeluwa Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin II, for his resilience, consistency, and high commitment in upholding the unique cultural identity of Ejigboland through the annual celebration of the Ogiyan festival.
According to him, “We extend our deepest gratitude to the traditional chiefs, princes and princesses, for their invaluable support to Alayeluwa Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin II. Your collaborative spirit and commitment to our cultural preservation have been instrumental in making this year’s festival a resounding success. Together, you have woven a tapestry of unity, pride, and celebration, ensuring that the Ogiyan festival remains an integral part of our identity. May your selflessness and passion continue to inspire generations to come. Congratulations on the 2024 Ogiyan festival well-celebrated!”
The 2024 Ogiyan festival was filled with music, rites, dance, and merriment as residents and visitors gathered to celebrate their ancestral root and pay homage to their esteemed royal father. The festival featured traditional drumming, procession, and other events showcasing the ancient town’s sacred cultural traditions.
“The Oladapo Opasina Foundation (OOF) for years, has been committed to serving the vulnerable and marginalized members of the community. Through various initiatives and programs, we have been able to provide essential aids, education, and empowerment to countless individuals and families.” Dr. Opasina affirmed.
According to the Founder, “Our work is driven by a passion to give hope to the hopeless and to help those in need. We believe that every person deserves access to basic necessities like food, shelter, healthcare, and education. Our goal is to bridge the gap and create opportunities for those who have been left behind.
