St. Mark’s Commercial High School, Osogbo, 1998 set alumni has held its 5th reunion programme.

The event took place at Fusion Point Events Centre In Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, on Saturday, January 11th, 2025.

Speaking with AMILOADED, the chairman, 5th reunion committee, Apostle Olubunmi Ajibade, said the programme was the most decent they’ve had for years.

According to him, “We’ve been doing this for five years, and now we’re just trying to be better. I took the initiative myself this year that we’re not going to do it in school; we’re going to get a better place. This is the most decent reunion we’ve had for years.”

Apostle Olubunmi stated that the 1998 set is expecting one of their legends to become governor in Osun State in the next five years.

He said, “It is beautiful to be among my old schoolmates; I feel at home. It’s been long since I’ve seen anybody call me by my name, but when you come around your colleagues, your childhood friends, and they say Bunmi, I am happy.”

Also speaking, the immediate past president of the 1998 set, Ambassador Popoola Isiaka Olamilekan, said during his leadership tenure, they worked assiduously towards the better improvement of the alumni in terms of capacity building, project implementation, and giving back to the alma mater.

Ambassador Olamilekan said, “During the year in review, we were able to support our colleagues, including setting up a Point of Sale (POS) business and catering services, among others. This was achieved through a collective effort from all of us.”

He added that his administration also gave a facelift to the school entrance, which has been commissioned, emphasizing that the reunion was an avenue to reconnect and explore with old colleagues.

In his remarks, the newly nominated president, Elebuibon Faniyi Ajani, appreciated his colleagues for recognizing and nominating him to lead the 1998 set alumni.

Elebuibon affirmed that the alumni should expect transformation and progress that will bring more love and motivate others to join.

A member of the set, Lateef Ismail, admonished students in school not to join bad groups and not to be in a haste to reach the “promised land” and to replicate this kind of event in the future.

The reunion had in attendance the families and relations of the members of the 1998 set, among others.
