The Special Assistant on Programmes to the National President, ALGON, Engr. Kayode Adegbayo, has announced his decision to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State.
In a statement issued on Monday and made available to AMILOADED, Adegbayo explained that his commitment to politics is driven by a desire to contribute to a healthy and meaningful society where the general well-being of the people can be enhanced.
Adegbayo had left the APC in 2019 due to the party’s deviation from its founding principles and the lack of improvement in the lives of the people. Specifically, he cited the non-payment of workers’ salaries in Kogi State and the ineffective leadership of the party at the time as major concerns.
The statement reads:”To my esteemed elders, friends, brothers, and sisters, I am writing to officially announce my decision to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC). My commitment to politics has always been driven by a desire to contribute to a healthy and meaningful society where the general well-being of the people can be enhanced.
“I left the APC in 2019 due to the party’s deviation from its founding principles and the lack of improvement in the lives of the people. The non-payment of workers’ salaries in Kogi State and the ineffective leadership of the party at the time were major concerns for me.
“However, since the emergence of President Tinubu’s government, I have witnessed a significant shift in the party’s direction. The recent Supreme Court judgment granting autonomy to local governments is a major milestone, and I believe that my contributions can be more meaningful by working from within the party.
“In Kogi State, I have observed a change in leadership, with salaries being paid promptly and developments emerging in some parts of Yagba land. I am hopeful that with more coordinated efforts from stakeholders, we can achieve greater progress.
“Unfortunately, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as an opposition party, has been engaged in internal leadership struggles, failing to provide a viable alternative for the Nigerian people. As someone committed to the project of a better Nigeria, I have decided to return to the APC to join forces with like-minded individuals working towards local government autonomy and transformation.
“I believe that empowering local governments is crucial to ending insecurity and restoring prosperity to the grassroots. I am grateful to Hon. Faleke James Abiodun for inviting me to rejoin the APC, and I appreciate the support of friends and well-wishers, including Asiwaju Idris and Hon. Phillip Orebiyi.
“Arrangements are underway for my formal return to the APC, and I will keep you updated on the progress. Thank you for your love and support.”
