AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

A yet-to-be-identified group of suspected hoodlums has locked the main campus gate of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, denying students and lecturers entrance.
In a viral video obtained by AMILOADED correspondent on Monday, students were spotted left stranded at the entrance gate. The gate was also observed to have been plastered with different placard inscriptions, such as “Alabi Should Remove Tope Abiola” and “Tope Abiola Has Compromised, He Must Go,” among others.
Though the reason for the gate being locked cannot be immediately ascertained as of the time of filing this report, some students who spoke on the condition of anonymity said it was due to the suspension of the SUG election.
Recall that while reacting to the suspension on Friday, in a memo signed by the Institution’s Registrar, Abiodun Oloyede, the management stated that the suspension was due to a petition submitted against one of the aspirants in the 2024 Students’ Union election and also a security threat to the election process, which may lead to violence.
The management added that the authorities are currently reviewing the petition to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process, and the revised election schedule will be communicated as soon as possible.
The management therefore enjoined the students to remain calm and focused on their academic responsibilities.
All efforts to get the reaction of the management proved abortive, as the number of the Dean of Student Affairs, Chief Tope Abiola, was not reachable.
