Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, OSSIEC, has commenced payments of due allowances of its genuine adhoc staff recruited for the 2025 local government election held by the Commission.
In fulfillment of the promise made by the Chairman of the Commission, payments of different categories of adhoc staff have commenced in batches, starting with the allowances of Supervisory Presiding Officers, SPOs.
The Commission Boss, Hashim Abioye, expressed confidence that the Commission under his watch has never failed in its responsibilities and commitments to all stakeholders before, during and after the election.
In his words, he reiterated as follows: “We at OSSIEC are alive to our responsibilities. We have been up and doing. The adhoc staff recruitment process was transparent. It was digitalised and we have our records. Our genuine adhoc are not those crying a river on the social media.
“Look at those social media posts trying to paint the Commission black, they are coming from known enemies and detractors.
“Those who unconscientiously condemned the Commission for holding the election, those who moved against the holding of the election in a bid to frustrate us, those who claimed election never held, are those now fouling the media space that we are owing adhoc staff so much billions, an unfounded claim.
“Like I said we have the details of each of our adhoc staff, it is online and security agents have copies of the lists. None of them will ever behave irresponsibly, they knew what happened to us, and they understood the reason for the delay in payment.”
Progressively, Abioye called on security agencies to be alerted to the security threats by some political thugs , disguising as adhoc staff, planning an illegal protest against the Commission in a bid to hold the State to ransom for no justifiable reasons, in a desperate move to cause security breach and break down of law and order in the State, calling the public to the orchestrated illegality and criminality, stating that the culprits would not be spared by the criminal justice system.
He maintained that “No genuine adhoc staff of the Commission will pose any danger to the Commission’s facilities and public peace. We have started paying our adhoc staff in batches, category by category, a little more patience, in a matter of a little more time, everyone would have been paid.
“The payment is electronic, not by physical cash, it involves no stress, and these our genuine adhoc staff know our stance. Those who already got paid have started commending and thanking us. Everyone will get paid.”
The rest category of genuine adhoc staff who received training and who were actually engaged will receive their respective payments soon, the Chairman assured.
