The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has announced its readiness to make Osun State as the zonal headquarters for its industrial skills training centre in the South-West region of the country.
Adebayo Fajinmi, the Media Assistant of the Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Technical and Vocational Education, Dapo Ademola-Adesina, made this known in a statement on Thursday.
Fajinmi said the development was in alignment with Governor Adeleke’s commitment to promote the vocational services, skills acquisition, and empowerment programmes for the economic development in Osun State.
He recalled that Ademola-Adesina, on May 30, 2024, paid the agency a courtesy visit and proposed a collaboration with the Osun State Board for Technical and Vocational Education in the areas of Vocational and Skill Training, Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA) as well as Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).
He said the collaboration became successful after the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the ITF, Dr. Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, sent his team to inspect various vocational sites on Tuesday, August 13.
Fajinmi disclosed that the team led by the Director of ITF Abuja Office, Mr Victor Babatunde Awoniyi, during the inspection, visited three vocational training centres in Dagbolu, Iragbiji, and Igbajo in Osun State.
He added that the ITF team was received by the Osun State Commissioner for Cooperative and Empowerment, Bayo Ogunbangbe, on behalf of the Deputy Governor of the state.
He listed other members of the delegation to include the Executive Secretary of the Board for Technical and Vocational Education, Mr Samson Omigbodun; the Director of Administration and Supplies, Mr Segun Agboola; the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr Oduola Tajudeen; and the Director of Finance (SDG Office), Mr Fatai Raji.
