Ilobu Asake Development Union Rolls Out Activities For 30th Ilobu Day Celebration

AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

The Ilobu Asake Development Union has unveiled activities for the 30th Ilobu Day Celebration in Osun State, AMILOADED reports.

The President of the union, Pastor Olufemi Salako, announced the activities at a press conference on Saturday.

The Ilobu Day celebration is an annual event in which sons and daughters of our ancient city gather to celebrate our rich cultural heritage, honor our forefathers’ sacrifices, and chart a new course for the development of our community.

He said: “This year’s celebration is unique being the 30th of it and its uniqueness has been captured in the preparation and execution of the anniversary. It promises not only to bring back the glamour, fanfare, and historic moments, but also to entail special activities and programs that will keep it fresh in our memory for many years to come.

“Part of the uniqueness of this celebration is the unprecedented engagement with relevant stakeholders, groups, and religious bodies by the IDU National Executives that was held on Tuesday this week. The purpose of the engagement is to inform all sons and daughters about the details of the year’s celebrations and, more importantly, to solicit their feedback.

“Another historical event is that the youths in our community will tomorrow, Sunday, November 6, be unveiling a special platform, aimed at harnessing and coordinating their contributions to the development of Ilobu. The forum shall be called Ilobu Youth Assembly.

“To cap up the unprecedented, the IDU will be organizing a free health care programme that will include medical treatment and surgical operations. This is part of the welfare package of this current administration of IDU. “

Salano stated that over 100 indigenes have registered for the free healthcare programme within days of the announcement, adding, “This shall be held on Wednesday, November 9, while the concluding part – free eye examination and distribution of eye glasses for those in need – will be held on November 26, 2022.”

“Ilobu has been known to be one of the most economically viable communities in Osun State. Our vantage position of being few kilometers to the state capital, Osogbo has also boosted the economy of our society.

“In the last few years, we have seen growing investments in education, agriculture, services and real estate. The recent rehabilitation of Ilobu – Osogbo access road by the incumbent State Government, has taken these growth to dizzying speed. The journey from Osogbo to Ilobu is now less than 10-minute drive. History also attest to Ilobu as being one of the most crime free and peaceful communities in Osun State.”

The union President, however, called on well-meaning individuals and investors to “capitalize on these available opportunities to invest in our community.”

“The IDU will partner to provide friendly environment for every business in our community,” he added.

Salako further called on the Osun State Government to urgently help attend to the Laaro Bridge which he said has become “a death trap and impassable”.

“We have tried our best in alerting all relevant agencies and offices to its precarious situation, we are still awaiting government response.

Also, the new Ojutu Bridge has been opened for vehicular traffic but it is glaring that the work has not been completed and a memo by the contractor to the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing is an attestation to this. We call on the Federal Government to look into this as failure to do the needful may shorten the expected life of the structure,” he said.

Salako congratulated the Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Asiru Olatoye Olaniyan, his chiefs, community leaders and every son and daughter of the community on this year’s anniversary, adding, “We call on every son and daughter of our community to contribute meaningfully to this year’s celebration to make it more colourful and memorable.”
