Ilesa Water Project: Osun Assembly Summons Consultant, Ministry Over Poor Job

AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

The State of Osun House of Assembly has on Thursday expressed displeasure over the poor job being done at the Ilesa water project being handled by the Contractor and the Consultant in charge.

The House of Assembly also summoned the Consultant handling the water project, the Contractor and the Ministry of Water Resources to appear before the House of Assembly.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon Timothy Owoeye at plenary handed down a strict warning concerning failure of the people concerned to appear before the House, stating that the Assembly will not fail to order for a warrant of arrest, should any of the affected persons fail to comply with the summon.

He stated that the Ilesa water project had gulped so much money, yet the work done so far is so inconsequential compared to what has been expended.

Owoeye therefore called on the State Ministry of water resources, Contractor and the Consultant of the project to appear before the Assembly on the 29th of November to explain why the House of Assembly should not sanctioned them over why the project has not been completed.

He noted that the 7th Assembly under his watch will be up and alive to her responsibility of oversight, saying the Assembly will not hesitate on wielding the big stick if the need arises.

The Speaker said, “We are not happy with what is going on with the Ilesa water project all those involved especially the Ministry of Water resources, the Consultant, Engineer Mrs Tawa Williams, the Contractor and the sub contractor, they should all appear before the Assembly on Tuesday 29th of this month.

“Our findings revealed that the Contractor in charge of the water project has collected a lot of money without doing much, they must be brought to book because tax payers money is involved.

“They will need to come and explain to the public what is delaying the completion of the project when much had been provided and given to the contractor in charge”. The Speaker emphasized.
