Nigerian activist and social media influencer, VeryDarkMan, has revealed a shocking inheritance scandal involving Access Bank and a contested N500 million fortune. This situation could change how Nigerians perceive their banks.
The issue revolves around the late Mr. Edongesi Edit Hour, who passed away on April 17, 2019, sparking a wave of startling claims.
In a recent video, VeryDarkMan disclosed that before his death, Mr. Edongesi had shared with his sister, Basi Edit Hour, details about his significant financial assets in several Nigerian banks, including GT Bank, Keystone Bank, and Access Bank.
VDM reported that Basi was able to access funds of N10 million from GT Bank and N2.9 million from Keystone Bank after receiving a Letter of Administration from the Kaduna High Court. However, the main issue now revolves around the N500 million in Access Bank.
VDM explained that the situation escalated when Access Bank surprisingly denied that the deceased had an account. Even after the Central Bank of Nigeria confirmed the accounts linked to Mr. Edongesi’s BVN, Verydarkman stated that Access Bank provided incomplete records and did not give a full account statement.
Verydarkman shared that Access Bank stated in a 2020 announcement that the account had been inactive since it was opened in 2016, showing a meager balance of 54 Kobo.
The activist insists that the absence of records from 2016 to 2020 is a clear sign of possible misconduct.
In his message, VeryDarkMan went beyond just pointing fingers at the bank. He cautioned his followers to remain watchful and keep a close eye on their Access Bank accounts.
Sharing the video, he wrote in parts:
“IF YOU HAVE AN ACCESS BANK ACCOUNT PAY ATTENTION TO THIS, YOUR FUTURE AND GENERATION MAY DEPEND ON THIS…
“THIS ALLEGATION MUST BE NOT BE SWEPT UNDER THE CARPET, A DEEP INVESTIGATION SHOULD AND MUST BE CARRIED OUT…”
