A missing 19-year-old 400 level student of Kogi State University, Akungba, Fauziyah Mohammed, has been found in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Narrating her ordeal in tears to journalists at the state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Ilorin on Monday, Fauziyah, the student said she can’t explain what happened to her.
She could not explain in details how she found herself in Ilorin all the way from Akungba.
According to her, all she could remember was that while she was inside the premises of Kogi State University, Akungba, her book fell down and in an attempt to pick it, she found herself in Ilorin.
While parading the student before journalists on Monday, the Commandant of the Corps, Garba Mohammed, disclosed that Fauziyah was found at Ajegunle Isale, Egbejila community of Ilorin metropolis.
“She was handed over to a security officer, DSO Joel Adebola Afolayan, by members of the community who informed that Fauziyah was found wandering on November 30, 2024.
“Upon interview of Fauziyah by Joel, she said she did not know how she got to Kwara State from Kogi State.
“The DSO was able to reach the family of Fauziyah through phone calls in which Malam Salihu Aliu, who is an uncle to her, was delegated by the family to act on their behalf here in Ilorin,” the commandant stated.
The commandant also announced the arrest of a kidnap suspect identified as Abu Usman Soldier, in connection with the abduction of a mother and her two children.
While the mother has been released, the two children are still in captivity as the N50 million ransom which was negotiated to N15 million is yet to be paid to the abductors.
