AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE
A nurse working with the Wuse General Hospital, Abuja, has recounted how she survived a brutal attack from a gang of criminals who picked her off as a passenger and ended up abducting her for two hours.
The middle-aged woman who is a chief nursing officer at the hospital, however, prefers to remain anonymous.
Speaking on her hospital bed, where she is still writhing in pains, she said she was on afternoon duty on Tuesday and closed by 8pm and stood behind the hospital by Sultan Abubakar way and hailed a taxi to Area 1.
She said, “The taxi had three passengers, a woman in front and two men behind. Immediately I boarded, they sped off and as we reached the NNPC filling station near Churchgate, the two men grabbed me by the throat and started beating me.
“They were heating me in the face and hands and asked me to lie on the floor of the cab. They asked me who I was and when I told them I am a nurse at Wuse General Hospital, they said ‘you are Tinubu’s staff so if you don’t give us what we want, we will show you that we are not ordinary one chance robbers.’”
The matron said before seizing her ATM cards, phones, wedding ring, wrist watch and N5,000, they called her husband and demanded N1 million ransom, threatening to kill her if the money wasn’t paid immediately.
According to DailyTrust, the matron, however, said the N1 million ransom was not paid after the painful ordeal.
When called on phone to comment on the efforts the FCT police command is making to fight the crime, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Josephine Adeh, said her phone battery was low and could not talk. She promised to call back later but never did.
