An ex-convict, Saheed Abioye, who was arrested for robbery in the Alekuwodo area of Osogbo, alongside other 38 suspects arrested for various crimes committed within the state on Thursday was paraded by Osun Police Command.

The command warned that its operatives would not relent until perpetrators of violent crimes were arrested or forced to relocate out of the state.

Parading the suspects arrested for offences ranging from armed robbery and receipt of stolen goods to membership of unlawful societies, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, also said eight cars, a mini truck and two motorcycles were recovered alongside arms from the suspects.

Speaking on the case of conspiracy, armed robbery and kidnapping, which led to the arrest of 14 suspects, Opalola said the suspects were linked to an armed robbery that occurred in Inisa town and an abduction in Ikirun.

She said a complainant was abducted at gunpoint in Ikirun by a three-man gang who later dropped him at Ejigbo, Osun State after dispossessing him of an ash colour Lexus RX350, six handsets, an ATM card and other valuables worth N7.1m.

She said, “Immediately the case was referred for discreet investigation, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad were able to recover the Lexus RX350 in Akure, Ondo State.

“Further intelligence led the detectives to the Iwo and Ikirun areas which led to the recovery of the following vehicles: one unregistered Toyota Sienna 2011, one Silver colour Toyota Corolla 2006 model, one Toyota Matrix car with number plate HS 228 ABC, one wine colour Toyota Sienna 2005 model with number plate JJJ 59 HM, one unregistered Toyota Dyna and one Toyota Corolla 2006 model with number plate LGB 662 AA.

“Upon a report that some armed robbers burgled the residence of a victim in Inisa and dispossessed him of his Toyota Camry with number plate BKW 902 TV and other valuables, the proactive response from detectives from the Anti-kidnapping Squad led to the recovery of the vehicle and arrest of four armed robbery suspects, Oluwasanmi Adebanjo, Tayo Emmanuel, Rasaki Bakare and Julius Olalekan, in the Olodo area, Ibadan.

“Further investigation led to the arrest of Femi Adeniran, Ogunremi Adeyemi, Ayobami Azeez and Lawal Omotayo for aiding the registration and computer production of fake number plates and documents for the stolen vehicles.

“The suspects confessed to being actively involved in the above-stated offences. The suspects will be charged to court after the completion of the investigation.”

Opalola said Saheed Abioye , also known as ‘Anini,’ was nabbed at a crime scene as other members of the gang fled.
