The President of the Charitable Youth for Nation Building Initiative, Mr. Kabiru Adeniyi Adisa, FCA, has congratulated Nigerians on the 2022 Democracy Day celebration. He described this year’s celebration as a “celebratory march to 2023”.
His message was contained in a broadcast message posted to some social media platforms where he enjoined Nigerians, particularly the youths, to look out and vote for politicians capable of addressing the country’s multi-facial problems post 2023. He added that the mood throughout the country currently is sullen, as the security architecture of the country has failed the citizenry; the minority criminal elements are now troubling and giving the majority peaceful Nigerians sleepless nights while also killing and destroying families.
Nevertheless, we should celebrate this Democracy Day because it presents us the opportunity to get ready for the next general elections. Our level of preparedness will become obvious when we do not rely on monetary or material inducements before voting for the right candidates. Our readiness will equally be seen when we place our collective wellbeing over temporary individualized gains.
In the message, he stated that “It is my delight to congratulate fellow Nigerians on this day, being Democracy Day and the last one to be marked in this present political dispensation. Because of personal conviction, it appears to me that this 2022 Democracy Day signals a celebratory march towards the 2023 general elections, when political powers will be renewed across the states and at the centre.
“It is important to remind ourselves that the country is unstable, drifting and seriously challenged. The killings of fellow human beings witnessed over the years should prick our conscience on the choices we are going to be in 2023.
“Aside from voting right persons, we should be personal guards of our communities and surroundings by reporting suspicious groups or movements of people to relevant quarters, including the police and traditional leaders.
“In addition, youths should jettison all tendencies willing to recruit them for political violence in whatever form. If a political leader could not send his children on dangerous political errand, why should you allow yourselves to be sent? By doing our bits in responsible ways, we can truly march into 2023 to enthrone responsible leaders who can protect us.” He concluded.
Charitable Youth for Nation Building Initiative is a civic organization mobilizing and empowering the youths to be active partakers at all levels of governance, leadership and social understanding to strengthen the cooperate existence of the country.
