CBN Speaks On Viral N5,000, N10,000 Notes

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has debunked rumours about the introduction of new N5,000 and N10,000 notes, calling the reports completely false.

In a statement on it’s official X , the CBN urged the public to disregard the misleading content, adding: “This content is NOT from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

“Kindly note that the official website of the CBN is http://cbn.gov.ng.”

The false claims, which have sparked confusion across various platforms, suggested the new denominations would be launched to reduce cash-handling costs and enhance liquidity management.

Some reports even falsely suggested a supposed roll-out date of May 1, 2025.
