BREAKING: Police Reportedly Break Sowore’s Hand In Cell

Former presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore, has reportedly been assaulted while in police custody, with his right hand said to be broken during the incident.

Sowore, who contested under the African Action Congress (AAC), was detained in Abuja on Wednesday after being invited for questioning following a petition from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

However, a post on his official social media pages on Thursday morning alleged that police officers stormed his detention cell at about 6 a.m., assaulted him, and whisked him away to an unknown location.

According to the post, the officers were led by a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) from the IGP’s Monitoring Unit.

The post reads, “BREAKING: At about 6AM, a police team, headed by a CSP from the IGP Monitoring Unit, forcibly entered Omoyele Sowore’s detention cell at the FID in Abuja, broke his right hand, and transported him to an undisclosed location.”
