AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE
A chieftain of the ruling-All Progressives Congress in Osun State and member of the party’s Elders’ Caucus, Prince Felix Adeyemi Awofisayo, has distanced the party from the recent Supreme Court judgement on the outcome of the governorship primaries of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, AMILOADED reports.
He expressed his surprise at insinuations by some members of the PDP in the state that APC was behind one of the contenders to the dispute.
He made this known in a press statement he personally issued on Friday.
According to the Ile-Ife-born Prince, nothing could be more further from the truth, as the whole judicial process was entirely a PDP affair.
“I wish to use this opportunity to correct the insinuations that our great party, APC was working with one of the contenders to the PDP dispute.
“Nothing could be further from the truth. The whole process was a PDP internal affair. So they should not drag the APC into their problems,” Awofisayo said.
The APC chieftain therefore advised his party members to disregard the Supreme Court judgement, saying it is purely a PDP internal affair.
He reiterated that his party remains hopeful as the Election Petition Tribunal continues its sitting over the July 16 governorship election in the state.
“I am very optimistic that our party’s petition currently before the election tribunal would be treated in its own merit,” he emphasised.
He expressed his confidence in the judiciary, while admonishing APC members in the state to continue giving their unalloyed support to Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s administration in the state.
He further enjoined all APC members in the state to remain hopeful and prayerful for the party’s mandate to be reclaimed.
Speaking on the fast-approaching local government election, Prince Awofisayo urged all residents of the state who are of voting-age to come out enmasse and exercise their franchise.
