AOSGP Commends Oyetola For Administration’s Patronage In Locally Produced Foods

The Association of Osun State Garri Producer (AOSGP) under the aegis of Osun Indigenous Food Processors has commended Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for the patronage enjoyed from his administration, AMILOADED reports.

The association, while expressing gratitude to the state governor over his effort at boosting local food production in the state, said the state government’s patronage of locally produced food commodities has added and improved the livelihood of both young and old who work across the food production value chain.

The association said the state government, through its Free Food Distribution Scheme tagged, ‘Onje Ileri’, has succeeded in turning around the economy of the state, especially supporting Garri producers in the state.

The chairman of AOSGP, Mr Tajudeen Azeez, gave the commendation at a press conference to analyze the significant improvement of the state economy through the patronage of agricultural produces in the state by the state government.

According to the AOSGP Chairman, about one thousand metric tonnage of Garri has been purchased by the state government which shows that Osun farmers have produced over 4,000 tonnage of cassava tubers specifically delivered to the state government.

He added that more Garri processing centres have been established across the state which according to him are owned by young entrepreneurs and active woman.

While commending the governor, Azeez said his patronage has created more job opportunity in the state both at local rural and urban area across the local government.

One of the Garri producers, Mr Oyewale Azeez, who hailed the governor, said he was excited when a woman from governor’s office came to purchased garri in his shop.

Azeez said he did store the garri in his shop and kept till when it will be sold saying the patronage encouraged him to employ people and produce more.

He explained that he was able to pay his children school fees and workers both farmers and transporters through the purchase from the woman.

“When I first see this kind of program, I was so surprised because someone, a woman came to purchase Garri in my industry, when there is no sale in the market, I usually bought the Garri stores it in parks.

“Famers were also happy because we’ve bought cassava that we haven’t paid for it ,when their is no demand it was only those people that wanted supply that came but we give thank to God, they remembered us,” he said.

Another beneficiaries from the government patronage, Mrs Sadiat Muritala, said she has never seen “a governor who has been so kind to the farmers like that of Governor Oyetola”, saying Oyetola has done tremendously well in boosting farming and small entrepreneur in the business.

“We appreciate the governor, he has done so well for us because since the creation of the state ,we have not seen this kind of program,” she said.
