The management of Akol group of companies, on Tuesday, donated cash and medical items to Uniosun Teaching Hospital and Association of Resident Doctors, AMILOADED reports.

The management of Uniosun Teaching Hospital through the Chief Medical Director, Professor Peter Babatunde Olaitan, Association of Resident Doctors through the President Uniosun Chapter, Dr Ilori, the security team, who are all beneficiaries of the donation were all present with other members of the management, at the event.

The Managing Director, Akol Groups, Dr Pharm. Siji Olamiju, said, “This is not the first time we will partner with the hospital, we have done that in time past especially with the NHIS during a strike action. We see this as corporate social responsibility. In a sane environment, there ought not be security personnel in a hospital as this is an institution that caters for all irrespective of tribal , political affiliations and religious biases but it is unfortunate especially in light of recent insecurity threats in the state that truncated the smooth running of the services of the hospital.

“We have decided to support the Uniosun Teaching Hospital with #2.05 million naira as follows: the sum of ₦1million, 700 thousand Naira worth of our very efficacious antibiotic (Ceftakol 1.5g) injections for indigent patients with serious bacterial infection cases, to be distributed among Accident and Emergency (A&E), Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G), and medical wards of UTH, the Security Department with ₦100,000 for logistics to beef up the security within and around the hospital community.

“We also want to extend the support to the Association of Resident Doctors, by donating the sum of ₦250,000 for their proposed carwash facility, which will not only be beneficial to their members alone but to the whole Uniosun Teaching Hospital community.”

The Chief Medical Director, Professor Peter Babatunde Olaitan, said, “Although insecurity is a global problem, much more cases of it are being experienced in the country.

“It suddenly became our responsibility as a hospital or beef up our security. Therefore, I sincerely appreciate Akol Group of Companies for their donations, thoughtfulness and generosity. I seize the opportunity to appeal to other members of the public to please assist us items, which would be named after the donor with the permission of the Governor. We are in need of ambulance, extra buildings and other things.”

The group, however, presented the Cheques to the CMD, flanked by other members of the management team.

The President of the Association of Resident Doctors, Uniosun Chapter, Dr Ilori, appreciated the Akol group for her supports over the years, stating what father-figure the Group Managing Director has been to the Association for ages..

The Vice President of the Association of Resident Doctors, Dr Ojo John Oluwadamilare, on behalf of the Association appreciated the group for the particular support and hoped that their doors of support would continually be open to the association.
