Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has sympathized with the Anglican Bishop of Osun Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Folusho O. Babatunji, and the entire church for the fire inferno that affected a segment of the church building in Osogbo on Monday.
This was contained in a statement issued by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to Gov. Adeleke, and obtained by newsmen in Osogbo, the capital of Osun.
According to the statement, Gov. Adeleke expressed his pain over the damage caused by the fire incident at the place of worship, saying he is devastated by the thought of the loss that the inferno wrought on the church’s building before it was put out.
The Governor urged increased alertness of the public to precautions in order to curb the incidence of fire outbreaks in the state, noting that fire outbreaks are a menace that requires collective effort to stop.
He commended the swift intervention of the rescue team, particularly the Fire Service and emergency workers, at the scene of the fire outbreak, pointing out that their quick response prevented the further spread of the inferno and ensured that no lives were lost.
“I condole with the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese, Rt Rev. Dr Folusho O. Babatunji over the fire incident that torches a part of the Church, situated in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, on Monday,” the Governor’s condolence message reads in part.
“It is painful to hear about the devastating damage of the fire, especially as it leaves a segment of the Church ravaged and unusable any longer.
“This is heartwrenching, and I want to convey my sympathy and that of the Government of Osun State to the Church and the Bishop, who may have suffered personal losses as a result of the fire incident.”
