‘Jesus Is No Longer On The Cross,’ says  Singer Korede Bello

Nigerian singer, Korede Bello, has recently shared a powerful message about his Christian faith, saying that “Jesus is no longer on the cross.”

The singer, who shared insights on the resurrection of Christ and his personal journey from Islam to Christianity in a recent Instagram video, challenged the fixation on Jesus’ crucifixion, emphasising that Christ’s sacrifice is complete.

“Does Jesus still belong on the cross? Before you crucify me, know that I am a Christian, and Christ has already died for me. He has already been crucified, so there’s no need for that. Jesus never said, ‘Remember me on the cross.’ Am I saying the cross isn’t important? No,” he clarified.

Korede Bello recalled a moment during prayer when he was made to realise that Jesus is no longer on the cross, but is now seated beside God the Father, citing that this understanding brought him a new perspective on his faith.

“I was praying and looking at the cross when it hit me—He’s no longer on it. When I think of Jesus, I think of my identity as seated right next to the Father. That’s where I am,” Bello said.

He stressed that the resurrection is central to the Christian faith, citing Apostle Paul: “If Christ has not risen, then your faith is futile.”

He also opened up about his personal journey, revealing he was born a Muslim but turned to Christianity after studying the Bible.

“I was not born a Christian. I was born a Muslim. I had to start with the Bible myself—not for religious reasons, but for personal reasons,” he explained.

The musician expressed concern that many Christians remain overly focused on the cross, rather than the risen Christ.

“Our faith and identity are in the Christ who has ascended and is right next to the Father. When we pray, we pray through someone who is not on earth or on the tree. The cross carried our sins—the old identity is gone. Staying there is like nailing Christ over and over again,” he said.

Bello encouraged believers to prioritise love as the true sign of Christian identity, recalling Jesus’ teaching: “People will know you’re my followers by the love you have for each other.”

He further emphasized that communion is the way to truly remember Christ’s sacrifice and victory, stating that it’s about reflecting on what Jesus did, not re-doing it.
