
The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the death of fast-rising singer Adesina Afeez, popularly known as Destiny Boy, a development that has deepened public attention around the case.
The police said the matter has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for a thorough and detailed investigation.
In a statement released on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, said the command had begun investigations immediately after the singer’s death was reported.
“The Ogun State Police Command has commenced investigations into the death of Adesina Afeez, aged 22 years, popularly known as Destiny Boy,” the statement read.
“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, for detailed investigation. One suspect is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing.”
The police added that updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
News of Destiny Boy’s death broke on Sunday after disturbing videos began circulating widely on social media.
In the clips, the late singer was seen lying motionless in the back of a vehicle as he was being taken to a mortuary.
Cotton wool could be seen placed in his nostrils and ears, a sight that triggered shock, grief and intense speculation among fans and colleagues.
The videos quickly went viral, with many Nigerians demanding clarity over the circumstances surrounding his sudden passing.
