The Chairman of Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, has dissolved his political structure ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
Addressing supporters on Saturday at his campaign office in Osogbo, Ogunbiyi declared his support for Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the August 8, 2026 election.
Ogunbiyi explained that the meeting was convened to brief his supporters on the decisions reached by party leaders and to formally align his political structure with the party’s direction.
He said all former political groupings within the party had been dissolved to allow a unified APC campaign structure.
Ogunbiyi stated that all APC governorship aspirants had agreed to work together for the party, adding that the focus was now on ensuring Oyebamiji emerges as the elected governor of Osun State in 2026.
He urged his supporters across the state to work for the success of Oyebamiji and the APC, while cautioning against anti party activities and actions capable of undermining the election.
On his political future, Ogunbiyi disclosed that party leaders had assured him of the APC senatorial ticket for Osun West, noting that he had no reason to doubt the assurances given to him.
He further affirmed that Iwo Federal Constituency would deliver its votes for the APC, stressing that the area had consistently supported progressive politics. Ogunbiyi also pledged his continued financial and organisational support for the party’s campaign.
He called on APC leaders to intensify consultations and quickly harmonise campaign structures under the party secretariat to ensure a united front ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Dr. Ogunbiyi was one of the leading governorship aspirants on the platform of the APC before the emergence of Bola Oyebamiji as the party’s flagbearer.
