A Nigerian lady, Oluwaseun Lijoke, has narrated how she was profiled and treated with suspicion by the Maldives Immigration.

The Agric and non-export finance manager, who disclosed this on Friday, July 18, 2025 said she was made to feel like a risk simply for being a Nigerian despite her extensive travel history.

According to Oluwaseun, she missed her speedboat and had to book a new hotel due to to the extra scrutiny.

“I was held at Maldives immigration for over 2 hours — no explanation. Despite showing strong travel history, I was profiled and treated with suspicion… just for being Nigerian. My speedboat left. I had to book a new hotel last-minute. Being Nigerian shouldn’t feel like a curse,” she wrote.
