A deadly communal crisis between the Ifon and Ilobu communities in Osun State, which has already claimed one life, injured many, and left numerous houses burnt, has escalated to Erin-Osun.
The clash, rooted in a long-standing land dispute, intensified overnight, with reports confirming that hoodlums armed with firearms and machetes set fire to homes in Erin-Osun, forcing residents to flee for safety.
The extension of the conflict has heightened tensions across the three communities, leaving a trail of destruction and displacing families as the situation spirals out of control.
In swift response to the escalating violence, the Osun State government, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, has imposed a 24-hour daily curfew on Ifon, Ilobu, and now Erin-Osun, effective immediately.
Security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Police, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, have been directed to enforce the curfew and extend surveillance across the affected areas.
Governor Adeleke has also called for calm, urging community leaders and residents to embrace peace while warning that those found instigating violence will face severe consequences.
A viral video obtained by Amiloaded on Saturday captured the harrowing scenes of destruction, showing houses engulfed in flames as desperate residents risked their lives to salvage belongings from the inferno.
