Residents of Ikire, Osun State, were thrown into panic on Sunday after a corpse was discovered at a deserted bus stop along the Ife/Ibadan Expressway.
The unidentified body was reportedly dumped at the location in the early hours, raising fears among locals who avoided the area.
The abandoned bus stop, where the corpse was found, is situated near a Divisional office of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
A trader in the area, identified simply as Sesan, told Punch that he was alerted about the situation early on Sunday.
When contacted, the acting Police Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Command, Adeola Adeoye, requested time to respond but had yet to provide an update as of the time of filing this report.
