The new Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General O.O. Nafiu, has assumed duty as the 23rd Director General of the NYSC.

The outgoing DG, Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed, is currently handing over to him in a colourful ceremony at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

Recall that President Tinubu recently appointed Brigadier-General Nafiu Olakunle as the new Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The news of his appointment has sparked excitement in Ileogbo, Aiyedire Local Government, and across Osun State, as he becomes one of the state’s distinguished sons to hold a key national position.

Olakunle’s appointment as the new NYSC DG is seen as recognition of his dedication and service to the nation, with expectations that his leadership will bring positive reforms to the NYSC.

The new NYSC DG, who hails from Ileogbo near Iwo in Osun State, previously served as Chief of Staff to the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, who passed away at age 56 on November 5, 2024, in Lagos after a period of illness.

His appointment takes effect immediately.
