The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has opened up that he did not have slaves in his palace.
In a Facebook post on Monday, the monarch confirmed that he paid all staff.
According to him, monarchy is a huge sacrifice, advising who cannot offer themselves and humanity not to near it.
The monarch noted that it is illegal to grab people’s land, mine thier natural resources or forcefully acquire any properties as a monarch.
He wrote: “Monarchy is a huge sacrifice. If you know you can’t offer yourself for humanity, don’t near it. You must not Lord yourself over your people. As a father, a responsible one, you can’t grab their land, illegally mine their natural resources or forceful acquisition of any of their properties.
” You must be there for them always and at a cost, defending their rights and positive interests. A capable king raises kings not slaves. I don’t have slaves in my palace. I paid my staff. Slaves don’t receive salaries. They are my children. I fix them at any available opportunities both at state and federal advantages.”
