Osogbo Affairs Forum, OSAF, has called for unity, patriotism, and goal setting among indigenes that will open doors for more development.
The group made the call on Saturday, January 4, 2025, during the second edition of the Forum’s General/Townhall meeting, held in Osogbo Town Hall.
Event Theme: “Galvanizing Osogbo Indigenes Towards Unity, Patriotism, and Goal Getting,” brought together stakeholders, sons, and daughters of Osogbo from all walks of life, including traditional leaders, community leaders, and politicians among others.
The meeting was attended both online and offline by Osogbo indigenes, moderated by President of Association of Corporate and Marketing Communication Professionals in Nigerian Banks, Rasheed Bolarinwa, and a veteran Osogbo-based broadcaster, Alhaji Toyin Yusuf.
In his remarks, the representative of the Ataoja of Osogboland, Chief Olawale Ahmed Adeoye, the Alagba of Osogboland, emphasized the need to critically examine the challenges facing Osogbo, stressing the importance of working collaboratively with the Ataoja-in-Council to safeguard the town’s interests and ensure its sustained progress.
While speaking with newsmen, the Chairman Osogbo Town Hall meeting under OSAF, Alhaji Toyin Yusuf, said the only thing Osogbo can boast of is being the capital of Osun state, as there is nothing to show for it, hence the need to come together to speak in one voice.
According to him, “The major objective is to bring Osogbo indigenes, sons, and daughters together on a common platform, we rally support for Osogbo, we’ve witnessed years of division, we believe it is time for Osogbo to come together to speak in one voice, so that Osogbo as a town and capital of Osun state can move forward, the only thing we have to show for our being capital of Osun is just that name that Osogbo is the capital of Osun, after that we have nothing to show for it.”
Alhaji Yusuf affirmed that with the caliber of people who attended the meeting, Osogbo is again on the path to greatness.
In his own words, one of the attendees, Adetoye Shittu Alamu, commended the organizer, advised Osogbo youths not to allow pettiness to take over greater Osogbo.
He urged them to serve Osogbo, so that in the future Osogbo can serve them, while encouraging them not to allow anything to differentiate them as they’ve started a right course.
The meeting, which was divided into three sessions, addressed how to achieve unity, patriotism, goal getting, and development of Osogbo.
