Some years back, a high ranking politician donated millions of dollars over a period of time to help the ministry of one of the biggest pastors in Nigeria.
The pastor never queried him even though he knew it was beyond the scope of his salary.
Few years down the line, the politician was convicted of massive corruption and had his properties confiscated and bank accounts frozen.
The pastor does not believe he needs to return the money to the government. He believes it is God’s blessings and since he never knew it was acquired illegally, he has no need to give it back . The pastor in question is one of the biggest in Africa and worldwide.
Do you think the pastor is right? Is this similar to spoils of war in the Bible? Is this a case of the sinner’s wealth being stored for the righteous?
Proverbs 13:22:
“A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.”
