Nigerian filmmaker, Aniebiet Francis, has sparked online debate with a controversial statement linking the high rate of paternity fraud in Nigeria to women who were married at a young age.
Francis made the comment in response to a viral Facebook post by a user named ,Primrose Williams, who had written, “If she’s a good woman, you wouldn’t meet her single at 30. They would have picked her from 18-28.”
Reacting to this, Francis argued that societal pressure for women to marry early often leads to problems later in life, including infidelity and paternity fraud.
She wrote, “Yes, the rate of paternity fraud is powered by good girls that were picked at 18. Let’s share the grace.”
