The Osun Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA), in collaboration with the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund and Vault Consulting, organized a one-day training for primary healthcare workers in Osun State to ensure more efficient service delivery.
The event was held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Adebimpe Events centre, Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of OSun Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Rasaq Akindele, said the program was organized to sensitize and retrain health workers on the need to treat their patients well and be hospitable.
While stating that primary healthcare is the closest to the people, Dr. Akindele emphasized that citizens must be encouraged to visit these centers instead of going to a chemist shop or pharmacy to get drugs, which may be dangerous to their health.
According to him, the idea of the event was also to create awareness about the need for citizens to be conscious of their health.
The Osun Health Insurance Agency boss affirmed that recently the agency carried out an inspection by going around the primary healthcare centers across the state to check their operational records. However, he expressed dissatisfaction, which led to the organization of the event to interact and retrain workers on their expectations regarding patient care.
Dr. Akindele also added that the Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is very concerned about the health of the people, which has led to renovations and provisions of health equipment to increase the quality of service delivery in various healthcare centers.
Also speaking at the event, the representative of Vault Consulting, Lanre Adeoye, said the company has packaged programs for primary healthcare workers in the local governments to build synergy between them and the world council members to work together and bring out the best in the healthcare package of the Osun State Health Insurance Agency.
