AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE
Former Labour Party governorship candidate for Lagos state in the 2023 General election, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, GRV, has responded to the comment the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, sometime this week.
In the wake of the flooding Lagos state witnessed on Wednesday, July 3, GRV took to his social media to call out the state government. In his post, Gbadebo shared a video of a canal in Lekki Phase 1 covered with weeds. He asked if it was the responsibility of the citizens to clear the canal for easy flow of rainwater or the government.
‘’Here is a Canal in Lekki overgrown with weeds that disrupts the free flow of water. As i always say, It is far easier to clear canals than it is to demolish buildings.” he wrote
Wahab who appeared unbothered by GRV’s criticism, wrote;
‘’Eventually, you will be fine.”
Responding to Wahab’s comment during an interview with Arise TV today, GRV stated that he is fine but Lagos isn’t . He said the state government cannot be passionate about demolition when don’t care about the welfare of its citizens. He argued that they are on ground when they want to demolish but take to social media to speak when flood destroys the homes and cars of the people.
‘’I am fine, but Lagos isn’t. We can’t have a government that is passionate about demolitions but lukewarm towards supporting citizens. They are on ground when it’s time to demolish but tweet when your houses and cars are destroyed by floods.”
