The Osun State Police command has warned public office holders in the state to desist from covering their vehicles number plate to avoid being arrested.
Fielding questions from journalists after a parade of suspect at the State Command headquarters in Osogbo during the week, the command public relations officer, SP Yemisi Opalola, said only the State Governor, his deputy and the speaker were allowed to cover their vehicles’ number plates.
She added that no individual either elected public office holder or private persons have the right to cover their vehicles plate number, saying anyone caught would be arrested.
According to her with the present security situation in the State, indiscriminate covering of vehicle registration numbers constitute security risk, hence, it is outlawed.
“Only the Governor, the Deputy Governor, Speaker the House of Assembly are permitted to cover their vehicles number plate.
“Anybody seen apart from these three persons, can be arrested. We cannot afford to joke with security issues in the state any longer” she added.
