Buhari Took Nigeria 50 Years Backward — Fayose Blows Hot

AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

Former Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State said former President Muhammadu Buhari took Nigeria 50 years backward during his eight-year administration as president.

Fayose stated this in an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

The former governor said Buhari’s bad decisions were responsible for the current hardship in the country.

He, however, cautioned President Bola Tinubu to stop describing his predecessor as a blessing to Nigeria, saying that “he (Buhari) threw us back to 50 years of our history.”

Fayose described the Buhari government as one of “total regret, and today, the consequences of yesterday are manifesting, and it’s so disturbing and sad.

He said, “Look at the eight years of President Buhari, what would be left of a country like Nigeria as of today even if Tinubu means well? Where do we place the debts?”

Meanwhile, Fayose insisted that Tinubu’s performance has been impressive.

According to him, there is no miracle the current President, who was sworn in last May, could do in nine months.

Fayose said, “A lady who was a former minister of finance said very expressly that we service Nigeria’s debt with 83 per cent of our income.

“Considering what Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President of Nigeria inherited and our diversity, put all these together, the gentleman is trying,” he said.

Recall that Nigeria has been faced with the challenges of rising inflation, the forex crisis, economic hardship and the high cost of living occasioned by the removal of petrol subsidy, a development that has sparked protests in parts of the country.
