The 2023 Boot Camp of a non-governmental organisation, CONNAK foundation, has been concluded in Osogbo, the Osun State capital with a charge to all Nigerian Youth, particularly University graduates, to endeavour to be job creators rather than job seekers in order to live a fulfilled life, AMILOADED reports.
The founder of the organisation, Kenneth Nnamdi Ukeagu, made the call in his message to the participants at the Boot Camp in Osogbo, Osun State.
A similar event by the organisation had been held for the beneficiaries in the South-South and South-East zone of Nigeria in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for a week before the team moved to the South-West
The philanthropist who was represented by the foundation’s General Manager, Mrs Rosemarie Etsiame, said since government alone cannot provide jobs for all Nigerians, it was time for youths in the country to combine vocational training with education to be independent and self-reliant.
According to the business icon, ” it is the intention of the foundation to support the average Nigerian youth to become successful entrepreneurs who will join other well meaning citizens to make the country a great nation in the nearest future. “
Participants had before their physical training at the Boot Camp been offered a free 12-week online training before converging on Osogbo for the physical training.
The 150 participants who are the selected beneficiaries from the South West zone of Nigeria were exposed to intense training in physical and online marketing, branding, communication skills, and negotiation.
The Aare Musulumi of Osogboland, who is also a member of the foundation’s Board of Trustees ,Alhaji Abdulganiyu Adekunle advised the beneficiaries to make the best use of the opportunity to be successful in life . In his words ,” success does not come by accident, it is planned for, worked for and deliberately sustained.”
The projects’ lead consultant, Dr. Emeka Unachukwu expressed satisfaction that there was a remarkable improvement in the skills of the participants after the one- week rigorous training his team exposed them to. According to him ,” their lives can never be the same again as they have been offered a foundation to build their mansion of success”
In the same vein, the camp’s Commandant, Mr Chike Ekwe, said the training programme focused on the improvement of the three elements that make a man , the body , the soul, and the spirit. He added that his assignment was to ensure that participants learn how to keep physically fit to face the rogours that business and enterprise entail.
The high point of the event was the business pitch where all the participants individually presented their business ideas with a view to attracting a $5000 USD grant per beneficiary who was able to convince the panel that his or her venture would succeed after getting the aid.
The participants, according to the Foundation, were drawn from all parts of the South-West with free accommodation ,feeding, and training for the whole week
