CONNAK Foundation Commences Empowerment Programme In Osun

A non-governmental organization, CONNAK Foundation, has commenced its annual programme, COFEI bootcamp, in Osun State to empower the residents of the state with about $5,000, AMILOADED reports.

The foundation founded by Mr Kenneth Nnamdi Okeagu has been empowering women and youths since 2012 to tackle unemployment in the state.

The pitching of each participant business plan took place on Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Ebunoluwa International School in Osogbo, Osun State.

Speaking at the event, the General manager of CONNAK Foundation, Rosemary Etiame, said the program is to tackle the capacity development of the youths in our community

Etiame said, “We realise that we cannot wait for the government to create job opportunities.

“We identified that many of the youth have skills but do not have financial enablement for them yo be able to start their own business venture.

“CONNAK also deal with health care services which is free every year,  in partnership with faith care international from the United state of America.

“We are also planning a free health care program in osogbo later this year.”

Alhaji Abdulganiu Adekunle, one of the Member of trustees of the foundation, said, “We have youths who are jobless and it is our duty to empower people who are not wealthy enough.”

Speaking at the Event Mr Chike Ekwe who is in charge of the physical bootcamp said, “We considered that there should be orderliness in the camp and there is need to ensure that there is peace and tranquility in the camp”

“For you to win this grant you must also be mentally alert.”

Doctor Emeka Onachukwu who is the lead consultant for the COFEI program said, “The level of the participants English shows that understanding of what they do is high.

“They are easily managed because they are graduates which make the job easier but they will have to defend their business plan to make sure they didn’t download from the internet.”

A participant, Miss Okewole Esther, who is into bag making, said she converted waste from fabric combining it with leather to make quality and durable leather product.

She said, “With the investment of CONNAK foundation grant of 3.5 million, we will be able to get more machines and larger space to help in the expansion of our production. We will also empower youth and the disabled.”

Connak Foundation is non-profit organization committed to fostering economic growth, providing humanitarian support, and promoting good health to underserved persons within our local communities.

The objective of the program is to empower individuals with requisite entrepreneurial skills needed to sustain their business ventures.
